Why your organisation should set up its own Corporate Learning Academy

Some managers say why should I train my employees, because if I do then they will only leave. Of course the obvious response is to say, what happens if you don’t train them and they stay!

The more successful organisations understand the benefits of training their employees. Training is crucial if you want your employees to do their jobs correctly, efficiently, productively and legally. Moreover well trained employees provide a better standard of service to customers, are more motivated and loyal (and are more likely to stay as a result). Indeed there is established academic research about the direct relationship between satisfied employees and satisfied customers which in turn leads to higher profits.

But in addition to providing direct technical training for their jobs, the more progressive organisations understand the further benefits of showing their employees that they are appreciated and valued by supporting their personal development. This can take different forms, but many organisations encourage their employees to study for academic qualifications. Employees with higher academic qualifications will be prime candidates for promotion so the employer also gains directly. The support can range from time off to part or complete funding.

A customised Teaching Zone

iQualify UK has therefore developed an online service to enable organisations to support their employees’ training and development through the creation of their own customised Corporate Learning Academy. An organisation’s Corporate Learning Academy is their own branded version of iQualify UK’s Teaching Zone. It has been developed in partnership with the Association of Business Executives (ABE), a UK Government (Ofqual) recognised Awarding Organisation, whose qualifications form the core of the Academy.

If your employees want to learn more about their work area or are planning for a promotion they can study for a single ABE unit such as HR, finance or marketing etc. These units can also be combined into one of the ABE Diploma in Business Management qualifications up to Level 6 (which is the same academic level as a UK Bachelor’s degree). If they want to undertake further higher academic study they can take ABE’s postgraduate Level 7 Diploma in Business Management, either for its own merits in helping them to become a more strategic thinking manager, or as a route to an MBA.

Everything you need to study is included

They study online, and everything they need is included. Units consist of live and recorded lectures, essential reading, links and self-assessment exercises. There are sections on effective learning skills to help those new or returning to study, and the Manager’s tool kit contains explanations on key areas of management. They can study anytime (such as in a quiet period at work) and anywhere. All they need is Internet access through their phone, laptop, tablet or PC.

An organisation’s Corporate Learning Academy also has the facility to add in-house courses such as induction, health and safety, legal compliance etc., so that it becomes a point of reference for every employee. Organisations save by having consistent standardised training provided on demand when it is needed, without the cost and hassle of arranging classrooms, travel, accommodation and trainers. The system tracks everyone’s activities so that there is a permanent record of achievement, what stage they are at and whether anyone need additional support.

It is the modern way to manage your employees’ learning and run a successful motivated organisation. You will soon wonder how you ever manged without it!
